This is the big question. It is the one everyone asks, and religious people have been trying to explain since religion became a business.
To say I have the answer would be wrong, but I’ll give it a go. We have to agree we all live on this planet. We find a partner and have a family. We make friends and enjoy other people’s company. No matter what country you live in around this planet, your life, in regard to family and friends, is the same. We might have different jobs, we might have more or less money than people in other countries, but in regard to living on this planet, we are the same.
As I have stated in other articles in this Blog, everyone around the world basically wants the same thing. A roof over their head, enough food to eat and an education for their children, especially if they have to look after Mum and Dad when they get older. If we are all the same, there must be some reason behind that similarity. What is the one thing that joins all this together? LOVE. The love of one’s family and friends is the reason for living. To provide for them all and be there to help.
Some of you might say, that’s stupid. It just can’t be LOVE. There must be more than that as the reason we are here on this planet? In some ways you are correct. There are probably a few more smaller reasons, but they all stem from LOVE. There are people who hate and hurt, but these people don’t know about LOVE and find it difficult to give and take it.
So, if LOVE is the reason for us being here on this planet, (and let’s not go into, Is our planet the only one with life as we know it?) If LOVE is the reason for us being here on this planet, then LOVE needs to be encouraged and spread around the world. Surely this would include trees, animals, birds, fish and insects? But once again I can hear you screaming at me “ how can I love something like a mosquito? They carry diseases that can kill people.” This is true, but that doesn’t make the mosquitoes bad. I used to hate cockroaches, until I wrote a story about insects taking over the world and putting on a concert. The cockroaches were the stars of the show. They were the Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers of the concert. And if you don’t know who Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers are, look them up on the internet. After writing that story, I looked at cockroaches in a different light. They have been on this planet longer than human beings. They deserve a bit of love.
Everyone and every living thing on this planet has a place, and we are here to help each other. That doesn’t happen through hatred, it happens through LOVE, and if we love everything around us, the place is so much brighter and happier. Those who hate are always looking for the bad things in the world. Those who LOVE find the goodness in everything.
Love is a warm feeling. I watched my niece fall in love with her child two days after it was born. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. I heard a man speaking on the radio about seeing his father fall in love with his grandson. Like me he found it the most amazing thing to see.
LOVE saves life. LOVE generates LOVE. LOVE is a reason for living. LOVE makes the world go round. And if we believe that everything on this planet is here for a reason, then we should learn to LOVE everything, even if we have to help the mosquito not to breed so quickly to stop the spread of the disease.
Over my extensive life I have found that people who Love are happy. People who Love find it easier to mix and enjoy life. I can be overwhelmed by Love, and those people, many called saints, I feel had that abundance of Love. Having a Love for everyone and everything, makes you see the world in a different light. You can find humour in the idiosyncrasies of people. You can be amazed at the insect world and how, even though they are so small, they can survive. You can delight in the shape, colour and abundance of a tree. Even the rain and thunderstorms can be exciting and hot and cold days can still hold joy. LOVE is such a small word but it can make you believe how wonderful life is, and give one the joy of living.
If you find it difficult to LOVE everyone, start small and look at the world around you. Notice the workmanship of the insects to protect themselves. Watch how the birds and fish fly and swim in groups, once again to protect and help themselves. Out of all that comes trust and you have to LOVE someone to trust them. I am not asking you to LOVE those that have hurt you, but you know if you think about their life and what might have happened to them as they were being brought up, it makes you realise that there could be an insecurity that makes them behave the way they do. Look into the live of others and I am sure you will find a reason to LOVE.
If we can all learn to LOVE don’t you think this planet will be a better place? I do !!!
